Fans of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed comic book series “The Sandman” are in for a treat, as Netflix has released an extended preview of the upcoming spinoff series “Dead Boy Detectives.”

The five-minute sneak peek, available on the streaming platform’s Tudum website, offers viewers a tantalizing glimpse into the supernatural adventures of the title characters, Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri). Described as “the brains and the brawn behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency,” these two teenage ghosts are set to tackle a variety of paranormal cases, with the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura).

The preview establishes the series’ quirky tone, as the two dead boy detectives navigate the mortal realm, escaping the clutches of “evil witches, Hell, and Death herself.” Fans of “The Sandman” will be pleased to learn that the series’ version of Death, played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste, is set to appear in a “large part” of the upcoming second season, and will also feature prominently in “Dead Boy Detectives.”

Originally conceived as a spinoff for the DC series “Doom Patrol,” the “Dead Boy Detectives” series eventually found its way to Netflix, where it will exist within the larger “Sandman Universe.” This ensures that fans of Neil Gaiman’s work can enjoy both adaptations in one convenient location.

The release of this extended preview comes on the heels of a new trailer for “Dead Boy Detectives,” which has further stoked the anticipation of audiences eager to delve into the paranormal mysteries and supernatural hijinks of the titular characters.
