In a treat for fans of the irreverent animated sitcom, Hulu has announced that it will be the exclusive home to two holiday specials of the hit show “Family Guy” later this year. The news was revealed during a panel at PaleyFest LA, where the series celebrated its 25th anniversary since its premiere in January 1999.

While details about the special episodes are scarce, the announcement has already sparked excitement among the show’s dedicated fanbase. “Family Guy,” known for its biting satire and pop culture references, has carved out a unique niche in the world of animated comedies, and these holiday specials promise to deliver the show’s signature brand of humor with a festive twist.

The decision to premiere the specials on Hulu underscores the streaming platform’s commitment to providing its subscribers with exclusive and highly-anticipated content. Hulu has been the streaming home for new episodes of “Family Guy” the day after they air on Fox, and now it will offer fans an even more immersive experience with these holiday-themed installments.

“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane, who voices several of the show’s main characters, including Peter, Brian, and Stewie Griffin, expressed his optimism about the series’ longevity in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times. When asked if the show could last another 25 years, MacFarlane seemed open to the possibility, as long as the audience remains engaged.

“At this point, I don’t see a good reason to stop,” he said. “People still love it. It makes people happy, and it funds some good causes. It’s a lot of extraneous cash that you can donate to Rainforest Trust and you can still go out to dinner that night.”

MacFarlane acknowledged that there was a time when he thought about wrapping up the show but added, “At this point, we’ve reached escape velocity. I don’t know that there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get sick of it. Unless the numbers show that people just are, ‘Eh, we don’t care about Family Guy anymore.’ But that hasn’t happened yet.”

The announcement of the holiday specials comes on the heels of “Family Guy” being renewed for its 23rd season, further solidifying its status as a pop culture phenomenon. With its enduring popularity and MacFarlane’s commitment to keeping the show fresh, fans can look forward to more outrageous adventures and irreverent humor from the Griffin family for years to come.

As the release date for the holiday specials approaches, Hulu is sure to provide more details about the plot and premieres. In the meantime, “Family Guy” enthusiasts can revel in the anticipation of two exclusive festive installments that promise to deliver the show’s trademark blend of satire, absurdity, and heartwarming moments, all wrapped in a holiday-themed package.
