The movie Twisters has everyone talking about one scene in particular – when Glen Powell gets caught in the rain wearing a soaking wet white t-shirt! Director Lee Isaac Chung recently opened up about how this unforgettable moment almost didn’t make the final cut.
Chung told reporters he wasn’t even thinking about making it a “big deal” when filming. He was more focused on capturing the beauty of rain. But when he saw footage of Glen in the monitor, he realized it had major appeal!
Even editor Terilyn Shropshire believed the scene was important. She warned Chung that fans would riot if it got cut down. Apparently the lady crew members were especially big fans!
As it turns out, Glen wasn’t even supposed to be shirtless. He was going to wear a jacket, but changed his mind last second. Good call! Now that scene has launched a thousand tweets.
Chung jokes that the editors wouldn’t let him remove the footage. They knew what the fans wanted!
This unplanned moment has definitely helped Twisters become a box office success, making $80 million since opening. Sometimes the most magical parts of movies happen by accident. Even Director Chung has to admit – a little rain and Glen Powell’s tight t-shirt have captivated audiences everywhere!
