Bollywood star Alia Bhatt leads the cast of the new film “Jigra,” set for worldwide release on October 11. The film tells the story of a strong bond between a sister and brother who face difficult challenges. When the brother’s life is threatened, the sister embarks on a perilous journey filled with determination to protect her family.
Directed by Vasan Bala, “Jigra” also stars rising actor Vedang Raina as the brother. The movie’s official trailer was released recently and gained over 39 million views in just two weeks. This indicates high interest from the public ahead of the film’s premiere. Distribution company Moviegoers Entertainment will handle international release, while Viacom18 Studios has domestic distribution rights.
In addition to Bhatt and Raina, “Jigra” features a cast that includes veterans Manoj Pahwa and Aditya Nanda. The film is produced through collaboration between several major production companies. These include Dharma Productions, Eternal Sunshine Productions, and Viacom18 Studios. Prominent producer Karan Johar worked alongside Apoorva Mehta and Alia Bhatt on the project.
Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions, expressed excitement for “Jigra” in a statement to Deadline. He praised the heartfelt performances from Bhatt and Raina in portraying the film’s emotional core. Co-producer Shaheen Bhatt of Eternal Sunshine Productions called the movie a “labor of love” for its depiction of family sacrifice. She commended director Bala’s skilled visual storytelling. Somen Mishra from Dharma Productions highlighted the unique creative partnership between Bhatt and Bala on this film.
“Jigra” continues Bhatt’s recent success including her acclaimed role in “Gangubai Kathiawadi.” With themes of family bonds tested by difficult times, coupled with action scenes, the film aims to appeal to both critics and general audiences.
