The popular show “Silo” on Apple TV+ is back with a second season, following an 18-month break. The first episode of the 10-episode season of the science fiction thriller, about survivors living in a huge underground bunker, aired on Friday.
Based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of books, the show continues to look at the lives of 10,000 people stuck in a structure a mile deep after a mysterious world disaster. The new season picks up where the last one left off, focused on Rebecca Ferguson’s character Juliette Nichols, who has left the safety of the silo.
Ferguson’s action skills are shown in the first episode of the season, “The Engineer,” where her character deals with the dangerous outside world. Inside the silo, the people who still live there are thinking about what will happen now that she’s gone and how that might affect their tightly controlled society.
Tim Robbins, who plays Bernard, hints that problems are rising within the group. Robbins said, “Bernard has important information that makes him stand out.” “This knowledge creates significant challenges in his decision-making process.”
The plot makes the problems inside the silo worse, especially in the Mechanical department. When he plays Knox, actor Shane McRae shows how emotionally complicated his character’s decisions are. “Knox turns Juliette in at the end of Season One, driven by a sense of responsibility as a father figure,” said McRae.
Shirley is played by Remmie Milner, who adds another level of drama to the relationships between the characters. “Her character is dealing with the betrayal of her best friend leaving the silo and must respond accordingly,” Milner said.
Even though the 2023 entertainment business strikes made the show harder to produce, it still ran on time. Graham Yost, who runs the show, said the visual effects team’s hard work during the break kept the production on track.
Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Common, Harriet Walter, Avi Nash, and Chinaza Uche are some of the famous actors in the group cast. Apple TV+ will add new shows every week until January 17, 2025.
“Silo” is a compelling look at life, power, and human resilience in a harsh world that will appeal to fans of dystopian stories and deep character studies.
