Glen Powell is progressing in Hollywood thanks to a new first-look film deal from Universal Pictures. This deal comes after Powell’s big year, which was topped off by the success of Universal’s “Twisters.” Along with this deal, Dan Cohen, a seasoned professional in the field, has become a partner in Powell’s production company, Barnstorm.
Cohen has worked for Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment for almost 15 years. He has been an executive producer on several popular projects, including Netflix’s Stranger Things, the Oscar-winning movie Arrival, and many more. People in the business see his hiring at Barnstorm as a big chance.
“Barnstorm has been a dream of mine since I was a kid,” he said. He said he wanted the company to become a center for great theater fun. He said good things about Universal’s management of “Twisters,” which made $267.7 million in the U.S. and almost $371 million worldwide. The movie also broke Peacock’s records for the most money made in its first two weeks.
Universal Pictures’ head, Peter Cramer, was happy about the partnership. He said Powell was “the complete package: a talented, charismatic producer, creator, writer, and actor at the top of his game.” Cramer discussed Powell’s desire to connect with people worldwide through various styles.
This deal is another important step in Powell’s quickly rising career. After his part in “Top Gun: Maverick,” he has become known for his versatility in movies like “Anyone But You,” a romantic comedy that made $220.3 million worldwide, and “Hit Man,” a drama that got him his first Golden Globe nod.
Cohen’s move to Barnstorm shows that the company has big plans for the future. “We share a passion for pushing creative boundaries and amplifying fresh voices,” he said. He talked about the creative way the company works by saying, “People often talk about doing ‘One for me… and one for them.'” We believe in “All for me,” though. “And everything for them.”
Powell is currently shooting “The Running Man,” a movie based on a Stephen King story directed by Edgar Wright for Paramount Pictures. The movie is set to come out on November 7, 2025. He will also play with Jenna Ortega in an upcoming sci-fi movie by J.J. Abrams for Warner Bros. that doesn’t have a name yet.
