Aimee Garcia has joined AMC’s The Walking Dead: Dead City as a series regular for Season 3, adding a familiar genre presence to the franchise; the casting was first reported on September 10. Garcia is known for prominent roles on Lucifer and Dexter, with additional recent TV credits. Character details were not immediately disclosed.
The series, led by Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, was renewed for a third season in July with Walking Dead veteran Seth Hoffman taking over as showrunner. AMC said production would get underway in Boston this fall, framing the next chapter for Maggie and Negan after Season 2 ended on June 22.
Cameras are already rolling in Massachusetts: local officials in Brockton confirmed street closures on September 8 to accommodate Dead City filming, noting that much of the show’s previous work has also been staged in the state despite its Manhattan setting. The on-location move continues the series’ established production footprint in the region.
The casting aligns with the franchise’s current expansion push. In a new interview, chief content officer Scott M. Gimple said there is “nothing but possibility” for The Walking Dead universe, invoking Robert Kirkman’s original pitch as “the zombie movie that never ends” while teasing new characters across its spin-offs. Garcia’s addition signals another attempt to deepen the ensemble as Dead City heads into its next phase under Hoffman.
Deadline first reported Garcia’s casting.
