Joanne McNally has signed a deal with Netflix for her first hour-long stand-up special, titled “Pinotphile,” set for worldwide release in 2027. The taping will take place at Town Hall in New York City on November 7 as part of the New York Comedy Festival, capping a stretch that has turned the Irish comedian into one of the biggest names to emerge from her country’s comedy scene in recent years.
“Pinotphile” mines material familiar to fans of McNally’s live shows: modern dating, rejection, frenemies, situationships and the occasional revenge fantasy. Matthew Vaughan of Rotten Science produces alongside Rick Hughes of Off the Kerb.
The special caps a run that has already sold out venues across multiple continents; the stage version of “Pinotphile” has toured the UK, Ireland, the United States, Australia and New Zealand since 2025, building on the momentum of her previous show, “The Prosecco Express,” which moved more than 260,000 tickets worldwide and played sold-out dates at venues including the London Palladium.
McNally will kick off a first nationwide U.S. tour in Seattle in September, ahead of the New York taping. She also co-hosts “My Therapist Ghosted Me,” a podcast she runs with fellow broadcaster Vogue Williams that draws more than 2.5 million listeners a month and has staged sold-out live shows in New York, Sydney and Dublin. Beyond stand-up, she placed second on a recent season of Channel 4’s “Taskmaster” and is set to join the next season of BBC One’s “Celebrity Traitors.”
A Netflix special has been rumored for McNally for some time, with industry chatter building steadily since her “Taskmaster” appearance raised her profile outside Ireland and the UK. Her career took shape after she left a public relations job to develop stand-up material drawn partly from her own experience with bulimia, material that eventually formed the basis of “The Prosecco Express.”
That show earned her a Ticketmaster Ireland Comedy Event of the Year award following a 78-performance run at Dublin’s Vicar Street, and reviewers have since noted that “Pinotphile” carries a tighter structure and a sharper edge than its predecessor.
