Australian singer Amy Shark is stepping into the world of acting with her debut role in Russell Crowe’s upcoming film “Beast in Me”, a martial arts-themed revenge story currently shooting in Bangkok, Thailand.
Crowe, an Oscar-winning actor known for films like “Gladiator”, has cast Shark as his on-screen daughter, an opportunity that emerged from an unexpected connection. The pair first met during a 2023 concert in Canberra, where Shark invited Crowe on stage to perform together.
Excited about her first acting venture, Shark shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse on social media. She posted a picture of herself with a script and declared herself an “actress 2025” on TikTok. The Gold Coast native will join an ensemble cast including Daniel McPherson, Luke Hemsworth, and Bren Foster, with Tyler Atkins directing.
Shark brings significant musical credentials to her new project, having won eight ARIA Awards and received 29 total nominations throughout her music career. The film has partnered with Singapore-based fighting league One Championship and will reportedly incorporate live fight footage, with scenes being shot in a Bangkok indoor stadium.
This unexpected career pivot marks a significant milestone for the award-winning musician, showcasing her versatility and willingness to explore new creative opportunities.
