Israeli filmmaker Yariv Mozer, whose documentary We Will Dance Again recently won a News and Documentary Emmy, has signed a first-look deal with Tel Aviv–based studio Sipur. The company said the pact is meant to “bring his next chapter to life,” while Mozer called Sipur “the home where I’ve found the freedom and support to tell meaningful stories.” The agreement follows the global rollout of We Will Dance Again, which premiered on Paramount+ last September and recounts survivors’ experiences at the Nova music festival during the Oct. 7 attack.
The deal formalizes an ongoing relationship. Sipur previously partnered with Mozer on The Devil’s Confession: The Lost Eichmann Tapes, a docuseries built around rediscovered recordings of the Nazi official; U.S. distribution on that project ran through Amazon’s MGM Television, which also maintains a separate first-look arrangement with Sipur. The studio has positioned itself as a bridge to international partners across scripted and nonfiction slates.
We Will Dance Again has been both lauded and scrutinized as it has traveled. In addition to its Emmy recognition for Outstanding Current Affairs Documentary, the film drew headlines during awards season when the International Documentary Association canceled contracted ads; the organization denied claims of bias, attributing the move to inventory issues. Reporting around the release also noted the project’s sensitive subject matter complicated some broadcasters’ decisions, even as the film sought to center first-person testimony rather than polemics.
Mozer’s film arrived on streaming after a limited U.S. theatrical event and subsequent airings in the U.K. and Israel. It blends phone videos and recovered footage with interviews, part of a fact-gathering approach that has characterized much of his work, from Ben-Gurion, Epilogue to the Eichmann project. The new pact signals that Sipur will get first consideration on Mozer’s upcoming ideas—documentary or otherwise—at a moment when the company is expanding its international footprint through co-financing, distribution alliances and development links with Amazon MGM.
