Over the years, fans have scoured every possible source for hints, from fake announcements in GTA Online to scrutinizing artwork on Rockstar’s website. The community’s desperation even led to bizarre incidents, such as a fan interrupting a live TV show to demand information about GTA VI.
The speculation reached a fever pitch when a massive leak of early GTA VI gameplay footage hit the internet in September 2022. This leak provided fans with their first real glimpse of the game, including details about the protagonists and the setting. As a result, the cottage industry that had sprung up around GTA VI rumors began to lose momentum.
Meanwhile, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has expressed a constant awareness of the competition in the gaming industry, stating that the company is “terrified at all times” of competitors.
Despite the success of GTA V, which sold over 185 million copies, Zelnick emphasizes the need for innovation and perfection with each new release.
