In a saga that has become all too familiar for PC gaming enthusiasts, the developers behind the critically acclaimed PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne have once again expressed their desire to bring the game to a wider audience on the PC platform. However, their wishes remain thwarted by the game’s publisher, Sony, which continues to hold firm on keeping the title exclusive to its aging console hardware.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the president of FromSoftware and the renowned creator behind the beloved Souls series, candidly acknowledged the eagerness within his development team to see Bloodborne make its way to PC. “I know for a fact these guys want a Bloodborne PC port,” Miyazaki stated, gesturing towards producer Yasuhiro Kitao and interpreter Bobby Simpson, both of whom accompanied him during the interview.
Miyazaki himself is no stranger to the fervent calls for a PC release of Bloodborne, a game that has garnered a devoted following since its launch in 2015. While acknowledging the constraints imposed by Sony’s ownership of the intellectual property, the esteemed game director expressed his personal desire to see the game reach a broader audience, particularly as it ages and risks being lost to obsolescence on older hardware.
“Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure, honest opinion is I’d love more players to be able to enjoy it,” Miyazaki confided. “Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware – I think any game like that, it’d be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past.”
However, Miyazaki also hinted at the precarious position he finds himself in, suggesting that openly advocating for a PC port could potentially land him in hot water with Sony. “If I say I want one, I’ll get in trouble as well. But it’s nothing I’m opposed to,” he said with a hint of resignation.
