I was bummed to hear that the Halo TV show on Paramount+ got the axe after just two seasons. Based on one of the most popular game series ever, this adaption had lots of potential. But man, was it a bumpy ride!
The first season caught a lot of heat from fans for not following the games closely enough. Thankfully, season two stepped things up and started connecting more dots. But I guess it was too little, too late – the production costs were through the roof at over $10 million per episode. No surprise the streaming service decided to pull the plug.
I know a lot of people were really getting into the storyline too. Just as it looked like they’d finally tackle the first game’s epic “Halo” ring mission, BAM – cancellation. And they left some major plot threads hanging too. Bummer!
While Paramount+ didn’t give a clear reason, the money issues seem to have played a big role. Still, Xbox, Amblin TV and 343 Industries say they want to find a new home for it, so maybe hope isn’t completely lost.
After so many years of false starts as a movie then TV show, it’s a shame it had to end this way. Fans were probably looking forward to seeing the adventures of Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) continue. At least we still have the games to keep expanding the lore. Here’s hoping someone else picks up where this show left off down the road!
