After months without any major news, Ubisoft released material dedicated to the next installment of The Settlers series.
Since last Friday, however, a new title has been given to the game, but this is not the only thing that has changed since the last delay ( in March this year).
Developers have also announced a new release date. The Settlers: New Allies will release on February 17, 2023 on PC.
Developers are also working on releases for consoles (PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch) and on streaming services (GeForce Now and Amazon Luna).
When last we saw The Settlers: New Allies (then still known simply as The Settlers), the fans had already received several gameplay demonstrations.
Some had also taken part in beta testing – and weren’t thrilled with the game, nor were journalists. This is why Ubisoft postponed the game’s release for the third time, only two weeks before its scheduled debut.
So what has changed in almost eight months? Quite a lot, evidently, as the developer took on virtually every element of production.
The multiplayer gameplay pace has been improved by, on one hand, the addition of neutral bands defending access to resources and other players’ bases, on the other – the introduction of new ways to move around the map.
Moreover, the players will find more uses for tools and food – also in scientific research, whose system has been heavily revised, with division into multiple levels and specializations modifying gameplay.
Also, the fans should be pleased with the addition of new “technologies”, which they requested during beta testing ( including resource recovery after demolishing buildings and planting trees).
Besides that, we can mention a greater variety of factions and their units, improved system of saving and loading the game state, improvements to the interface and options for changing key functions and inviting friends to private games ( or to help in Hardcore mode, previously known as Onslaught).
Incidentally, they also doubled the number of maps in skirmish mode (from six to twelve). Lastly, mention was made of a “surprise” that the developer is said to have been working on for quite some time.
Perhaps we will learn more during Ubisoft’s broadcast scheduled for December 1. Stream will begin on Twitch at 5 pm Polish time.
