Sony fans can expect a new handheld device soon, but this time, it’s not your typical portable console. Reports suggest that Sony is currently developing a unique successor to the PS Vita that could revolutionize the way we play games on-the-go.

Dubbed as the Q Lite, this new device is expected to offer an unusual gaming experience that will require constant internet access and PS5.

The insider leak comes from Tom Henderson, a reputable journalist who has been hinting about Sony’s new handheld on Twitter. After gathering enough information, Henderson finally released a report on the Insider Gaming portal, revealing the details of the Q Lite.

According to Henderson, the Q Lite resembles a DualSense controller, equipped with a large LCD screen measuring about 8 inches diagonally.

Like the DualSense, this device will offer haptic vibrations, adaptive triggers, handheld volume buttons, speakers, and an audio jack. At first glance, it appears to be a successor to the PS Vita, but with a unique twist – it won’t have any dedicated games.

Instead, the Q Lite will allow players to stream gameplay from their PS5 console. It’s not your typical cloud gaming experience, but rather a Remote Play function that lets you play your PS5 games remotely on your handheld.

This means that you’ll need a constant internet connection with a speed of at least 5 Mbps when downloading and uploading data. While it’s not suitable for all trips, this feature can certainly enhance your gaming experience on-the-go.

The Q Lite is expected to offer a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 frames per second, making it a powerful handheld device. However, this also means that it requires a constant internet connection, making it less ideal for areas with unstable or slow network connectivity.

The Q Lite is currently in its quality control stage and is expected to be released after the PS5 with a detachable drive, but before the rumored PS5 Pro. Sony is also expected to launch Project Nomad and Project Voyager wireless headphones around the same time as the Q Lite’s release.

In conclusion, while the Q Lite may not be what fans expected from a PS Vita successor, it offers a revolutionary gaming experience that can enhance your on-the-go gameplay.

The constant internet connection requirement may be a downside for some, but for others, it’s a small price to pay for a unique and immersive gaming experience.
