In a delightful turn of events, the magic of Disney+ is now extending to your home entertainment shelves. Disney has proudly revealed that the earliest gems from its streaming lineup are getting ready for their physical debut.

Brace yourselves for the arrival of the first two seasons of The Mandalorian, the inaugural season of Loki, and the entirety of WandaVision—all packaged in the brilliance of Blu-ray releases.

Mark your calendars, as these treasured series are making their Blu-ray entrance in style. Each season is elegantly packaged in a collector’s edition steelbook, a visual treat for die-hard fans and collectors alike. Prepare to dive back into the enchanting stories of these shows in a format that’s as tangible as it is mesmerizing.

Dates to Remember

  • Loki Season 1: Set to grace the shelves on September 26
  • WandaVision The Complete Series: Scheduled for a heartwarming release on November 28
  • The Mandalorian Season 1 and Season 2: Embarking on their Blu-ray journey on December 12

These newly announced Blu-ray editions herald a significant shift in Disney’s approach, hinting at a return to the nostalgia-inducing era of home video releases. In days gone by, Disney’s releases were eagerly anticipated events due to the unique concept of the “Vault.”

Films would emerge from obscurity for a limited period before retreating. With the advent of Disney Plus, the focus shifted towards digital streaming. However, as the pace of the streaming era steadies, Disney is revisiting its roots.

The physical Blu-ray movement doesn’t stop at the cherished Disney+ shows. The company has bestowed upon its loyal audience anniversary editions of timeless animated classics. The sublime 4K UHD rendition of Cinderella emerged at the dawn of August, while a 4K UHD version of Nightmare before Christmas is primed for unveiling on August 22.

In an exciting development, Prey, the Hulu Predator prequel, is also embracing the world of physical 4K releases. This concerted effort signals Disney’s commitment to this newly charted course.

Empowering the Fans

As content shuffling becomes more prevalent across streaming services, this announcement brings a ray of hope to fans. Owning a beloved series on disc ensures that the sudden vanishing act of content from a streaming platform doesn’t dampen your enjoyment.

While the notion of Disney’s marquee shows like The Mandalorian or Loki departing from their streaming home is difficult to envision, the introduction of these steelbooks provides an extra layer of assurance and a tangible connection to these cherished stories.
