The next big Marvel hero is officially suiting up for her highly-anticipated solo adventure. During Disney’s Upfront 2024 presentation, the studio unveiled the first teaser for the upcoming Ironheart series and confirmed the Dominique Thorne-led superhero show will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2025.
While light on plot details, the sneak peek offers an electrifying glimpse at Riri Williams assembling her cutting-edge armored suit through some “unconventional” means. According to reports from IGN, the footage depicts the brilliant teen inventor pilfering tech components and tinkering to construct her homemade Iron Man-inspired gear.
This seemingly sets the stage for the series to follow Riri’s comic book origin, where her inventions and illicit activities around the MIT campus lead to her expulsion from the prestigious university. Her rejection then spurs her transition into becoming the high-tech superhero Ironheart.
Thorne is reprising her role as the titular heroine following her debut as Riri Williams/Ironheart in last year’s blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She’ll be joined by an impressive ensemble that includes Alden Ehrenreich, Anthony Ramos as the villainous Hood, Manny Montana, Lyric Ross, RuPaul’s Drag Race icon Shea Couleé, and the returning Jim Rash as the irritable MIT dean.
Behind the camera, Chinaka Hodge (Midnight Club) is serving as creator and head writer for the six-episode series. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes split directing duties, while the fan-favorite character’s co-creator Eve L. Ewing also produced.
After years of development delays and uncertainty, Marvel’s Ironheart is finally gearing up as the next chapter in the ever-expanding MCU pantheon on Disney+. The teaser trailer offers a slick, tantalizing tease of Riri suiting up as her brilliant tech-based heroine persona.
Fans have been clamoring for more of Williams ever since Thorne’s scene-stealing turn in Wakanda Forever. Now the future is bright for the lovable genius inventor-turned-armored Avenger to headline her own adventures.
With a stacked cast, fresh creative voices, and the MCU’s signature blockbuster spectacle, Ironheart looks primed to introduce another iconic, trailblazing Marvel hero to viewers of all ages when it premieres on Disney+ in 2025. Riri’s journey to forge her own heroic legacy is about to begin.
