The world of “The Boys” is getting even bigger with the announcement of a new show called “Vought Rising.” Set way back in the 1950s, this prequel series will take us inside the origins of Vought International and the superpowered folks they created. We’ll be seeing some familiar faces too – Aya Cash is coming back as Stormfront and Jensen Ackles joins as Soldier Boy.
The show’s creator Eric Kripke says “Vought Rising” will be like a murder mystery. It will unravel all the secrets of how Vought started and how they made that crazy stuff called Compound V. Two big questions from the main show it will answer are what was the deal between Soldier Boy and Stormfront back in the day. In the current show, they hint those two had some kind of past romance but we don’t know the full story.
One thing fans can’t wait to see more of is something called “Herogasm.” For those who haven’t seen season 3, let’s just say it involves supers doing some, uh, interesting group activities. According to Kripke, since Soldier Boy and Stormfront founded Herogasm, it only makes sense we’d learn how it got started on their prequel show.
We’ll also find out more about things teased in recent seasons. In season 3 it was mentioned that Soldier Boy hooked up with a lady named Liberty, who turned out to be Stormfront. Season 4 had theories they had a secret relationship way back when.
“Vought Rising” joins some other new “The Boys” shows in the works too, like the animated “Diabolical” and a college spin-off called “Gen V.” This prequel promises to fill in major gaps, showing how that huge megacorp Vought took over.
Creators Kripke and Paul Grellong say it will “blow your minds and trouble your souls” with its crazy blend of gore, humor and old-fashioned superhero action. While we don’t know everything yet, it sounds like “Vought Rising” will give diehard fans deeper insight into this deliciously twisted superhero world.
