Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan is taking on directing and starring duties in a new movie adaptation of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” This marks Jordan’s second time in the director’s chair after the successful “Creed III” released earlier this year. The film will be distributed through Amazon MGM Studios.
Jordan will produce the movie through his Outlier Society production company as part of an agreement with Amazon. Writer Drew Pearce will draft the screenplay based on previous work. “The Thomas Crown Affair” was previously adapted into movies in 1968 and 1999. Both versions followed a wealthy businessman who steals art for fun and gets caught up in romance during the heists.
Jordan first became interested in the project back in 2016 after starring in the first “Creed” movie. Now with one directing job under his belt, he is ready to put his own vision on the charismatic criminal character. Production is gearing up to start, and people in the movie industry say several big name actors are being considered to co-star as the investigator who falls for Crown.
The new movie will mark the 25th anniversary of the last “Thomas Crown Affair” in 1999, potentially introducing the suave thief character to a new generation. With Jordan’s proven talents and track record of success in front of and behind the camera, expectations are high. As work on the movie continues, fans and industry insiders will watch closely to see how Jordan makes this classic tale of love, thrills, and theft his own.
