The upcoming film “Venom: The Last Dance” is projected to be the highest-grossing entry in Sony’s popular superhero franchise, according to box office analysts. Forecasts suggest the movie starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and his symbiote Venom could earn between $80 to $120 million in its opening weekend in United States and Canada theaters starting October 25th.
This would surpass the openings of the two previous “Venom” films. The first film from 2018 took in $80.3 million its first weekend. Its sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” from 2021 did even better with $90 million. Box office experts say if “Venom: The Last Dance” reaches the high end of predictions, it will set a new record for the franchise and become Sony’s top opening for any Marvel spin-off film.
While the previous “Venom” movies had similar ticket sales in North America, earning around $213.5 million total each, they differed globally. The original Venom movie grossed nearly $856.1 million worldwide. However its followup made less internationally with $501.5 million in global box office returns.
Several factors could influence how well the new film does. Its rating from the Motion Picture Association, whether it earns a PG-13 or R, may impact sales. Also the reviews from movie critics, who were mixed on the prior Venom films, whereas audiences strongly approved of them both. This third installment is being called Tom Hardy’s final appearance as Eddie Brock, so fan interest in a conclusion could drive sales.
The movie will face competition from other big films during the busy fall period. It currently aims to surpass “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” which opened to $111 million in September. However, as with any projection, actual ticket sales could differ depending on audience reaction and turnout. With its projected large opening, “Venom: The Last Dance” looks poised for box office success continuing Sony’s superhero series as it wraps up Hardy’s portrayal of the popular character.
