Amazon MGM Studios has secured exclusive streaming rights for the first five seasons of The Chosen on Prime Video, along with upcoming Seasons 6 and 7. The deal with Dallas Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios also includes a theatrical rollout for feature-length episodes covering the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The partnership brings a new unscripted series, The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, to Prime Video. This production will see Bear Grylls leading cast members on off-screen adventures as they explore personal challenges in the wilderness. The agreement also establishes a first-look series and film deal with 5&2 Studios, paving the way for additional projects centered on faith-inspired narratives.
Season 5 of The Chosen, set against the backdrop of Roman rule in first-century Israel, is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 28. It will debut for U.S. streaming audiences on Prime Video in June, with other regions gaining access later this year. Global rights are managed by Lionsgate, which sees the deal as an opportunity to engage loyal viewers while attracting new audiences around the world.
In a live stream announcement, Dallas Jenkins expressed his enthusiasm about the new partnership. “The team at Amazon MGM Studios has consistently shown passion for our show and our fans,” he said. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, remarked, “We are excited to work with Dallas and his team on a larger scale, creating more faith-inspired content for our global Prime Video audience.”
Jenkins has spoken in previous interviews about his vision of expanding The Chosen into a cinematic universe, exploring various stories from the Bible. The current deal signals a shift toward a larger slate of projects, which will include both scripted and unscripted formats, while retaining the authenticity and human perspective that have resonated with viewers over the years.
