Paramount Pictures has locked release dates for three upcoming features, giving Get Lite a spring 2027 slot and setting a Christmas 2026 launch for a true-story sports drama built around John Tuggle. The studio dated the untitled Tuggle film for Dec. 25, 2026, set The Rescue for Jan. 29, 2027, and scheduled Get Lite for April 9, 2027.
The Tuggle project, directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Nick Santora, casts David Corenswet as the New York Giants draft pick branded “Mr. Irrelevant” after going last in the 1983 NFL draft. Michael Shannon plays coach Bill Parcells, with Isabel May and David Krumholtz also on board; Skydance Sports is producing.
Get Lite marks the feature directorial debut of Teyana Taylor and stars Storm Reid. Paramount has described the story as following a talented but sheltered dance student who finds inspiration, love, and family in New York City’s subway dance scene. The project has been in development at the studio since at least 2024, when Reid first signed on.
Potsy Ponciroli directs The Rescue, a modern-day western starring Brandon Sklenar and Hassie Harrison. Sklenar recently said he expects to start production on the film in summer 2026, placing the shoot on a tight runway toward its January 2027 release. For Paramount, the dating strategy reads as deliberate: a holiday berth for an inspirational sports drama, a late-January slot for adult-skewing western tension, then a spring play aimed at younger audiences and music-driven marketing.
