A first full trailer for Supergirl rolled out this weekend, with the spot airing during the Puppy Bowl and then landing online as DC Studios ramps up marketing for the next theatrical entry in its rebooted DC Universe. The film opens June 26, 2026, in theaters and IMAX, and stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. Variety first flagged the new footage and framed Kara as a tougher counterpoint to her cousin.
The trailer sets Kara’s tone quickly: she celebrates her 23rd birthday, keeps Krypto close, and moves through a galaxy that treats heroism like a dirty job. She soon crosses paths with Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young girl seeking payback after her father is killed by Krem of the Yellow Hills, the deep-space pirate played by Matthias Schoenaerts. Kara draws a clear line between herself and Superman, saying, “He sees the good in everyone. And I see the truth.”
New images also lean on Kara’s Krypton-scarred history. DC’s official breakdown points to scenes of Argo City’s destruction, a Kryptonian funeral procession, and Kara screaming in open space where her voice cannot harm anyone nearby, all cues that the film wants grief and anger on the surface.
Behind the camera, Craig Gillespie directs from a script by Ana Nogueira, with James Gunn producing alongside Peter Safran. The supporting cast includes Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham. The trailer also teases Jason Momoa as Lobo, a role Gunn has highlighted in separate promotional clips.
