Viaplay Content Distribution has taken international sales duties for seasons two and three of Veronika, extending the show’s sales push beyond its home run on SkyShowtime. The distributor plans to offer the title to buyers as a three-season package, with seasons one and two available now and season three to follow after its streamer launch.
Season two premiered on December 8, 2025, and season three is slated to premiere in 2026, the streamer said when it announced the renewal. SkyShowtime framed the recommission as a marker for its local originals strategy across 20-plus European markets.
The series, produced by Bigster, follows police officer Veronika Gren, who experiences visions of the dead while working cases and trying to keep her life intact. Alexandra Rapaport leads the cast opposite Tobias Santelmann, with season two introducing new cast members and expanding the show’s story engine, according to the companies behind the project.
Vanda Rapti said season one’s sales footprint reached 55 markets across licensing and channel distribution, calling the multi-season offer a stronger commercial proposition for both streaming platforms and linear broadcasters chasing returning audiences. Calle Jansson said season one’s reception “exceeded our expectations,” and described the new sales arrangement as a way to position premium Scandinavian drama for a wider set of buyers.
The deal also fits a wider recalibration at Viaplay Group after its 2024 recapitalisation and market exits, with management putting sharper focus on monetisation and rights sales while trimming costs. In recent industry interviews, Viaplay executives have also pointed to steady demand for character-driven crime and thriller series, even as buyers greenlight fewer titles and press distributors for flexible windowing across platforms.
