Irish star Sarah Bolger has teamed with South Korea’s Go Ah-sung and rising actor Sungsoo Yune for Nervous, a psychological horror feature that began principal photography this week in Seoul. Deadline first reported the casting, noting the project’s tight security and on-location shoot in Korea’s capital.
Director Abner Pastoll, who teased the production on social media with a brief set video, is steering the English- and Korean-language picture after successes with Road Games and A Good Woman Is Hard to Find. Pastoll, a British-South African filmmaker now splitting time between London and Seoul, called the movie “a claustrophobic nightmare about isolation in an unfamiliar place” in a recent Substack update to followers.
Bolger, remembered for roles in The Tudors, Emelie and FX’s Mayans M.C., said she was “a bit nervous” tackling her first shoot in Korea yet praised the local crew’s precision. Go Ah-sung brings genre pedigree from Snowpiercer and The Host, adding domestic star power likely to boost Korean box-office interest. Yune’s recent credits on streaming thrillers round out the ensemble, though plot details remain under wraps.
Nervous is financed by February Films and Seoul-based partners taking advantage of Korea’s 25 percent production rebate, part of a broader surge in cross-border co-financing highlighted by the Korean Film Council this spring. Industry analysts say the collaboration reflects a growing appetite for East-West horror hybrids that can travel theatrically and on streaming platforms worldwide.
Filming is scheduled through July, with post-production in both countries and an August 2025 festival bow tentatively eyed before global distribution via a yet-to-be-named sales outfit.
