Netflix has unveiled a first‑look photograph from its six‑episode Pride and Prejudice limited series and confirmed that production is underway in the United Kingdom. A company statement added Rufus Sewell will portray Mr Bennet and Louis Partridge will step into the role of Mr Wickham, joining the field scene shot with the Bennet sisters on day one of filming.
The new names sit beside Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as Mr Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr Bingley and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, while Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery will debut as Mary and Kitty. The supporting bench also features Siena Kelly, Rhea Norwood and others who populate Hertfordshire society.
Previously announced leads Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden and Olivia Colman headline as Elizabeth, Darcy and Mrs Bennet. Lowden was first linked to the project in April amid early casting reports that signalled a classical approach to the romance. The adaptation is written by best‑selling author Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn.
Alderton has called Austen’s novel “the blueprint for romantic comedy,” praising the chance to balance drama, humour and emotional nuance. Cameras rolled on 28 July, and the four‑month shoot will move between London and nearby countryside before wrapping in November. Lookout Point produces for Netflix with Alderton, Corrin, Lyn and others among the executive producers.
While the streamer has yet to set a premiere date, internal planning points toward a late‑2025 or early‑2026 launch timed to Jane Austen’s 250th‑birthday celebrations. Industry watchers note that the Regency setting, full period costuming and expanding cast signal a commitment to a faithful retelling rather than a modern re‑imagining.
