Emma Stone has reflected on her tenure as Gwen Stacy in the two Amazing Spider-Man films, calling the experience “a really special time in my life” in a new “Life in Looks” video released this week. “I really loved doing Spider-Man. I loved everybody I worked with. I met Andrew there, I met Sally Field, [director] Marc Webb was wonderful,” she says in the clip, adding that it is “the people, more than the film itself” that stay with her and that she has “only the fondest memories of this whole experience.”
Stone’s comments arrive as renewed attention gathers around her early-2010s stretch opposite Andrew Garfield, whom she met on the 2012 production. In summarizing the video, one outlet highlighted her note that the shoot and its press cycle remain a period she remembers warmly, framing the remarks as a rare public look back at a blockbuster chapter of her career.
The actress portrayed Gwen Stacy in the 2012 reboot and its 2014 sequel, both directed by Marc Webb for Sony. Those films marked a distinct iteration of the character outside Marvel Studios’ current continuity and helped cement Stone’s rise from comedy breakout to marquee star.
While Stone has not revisited the role onscreen, interest in that era has persisted. Garfield returned as his version of Peter Parker in 2021’s multiverse crossover, a widely discussed cameo that reconnected audiences with the earlier films and further fueled nostalgia for the pair’s tenure.
Her remarks also sit within a broader moment: Stone is the subject of a new magazine cover package and video series tied to her recent awards run and upcoming projects, including a fall release with frequent collaborator Yorgos Lanthimos. The “Life in Looks” segment, where the Spider-Man quotes appear, was published August 14.
Stone and Garfield’s offscreen rapport has remained cordial in public settings; the two shared a brief, friendly exchange at the Golden Globes in January alongside Stone’s husband, director Dave McCary.
