Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Ubisoft Bordeaux’s Focus on Launch Leaves DLC Plans Uncertain

Ubisoft Bordeaux's creative director hints at the absence of DLC or extensive post-launch content for Assassin's Creed Mirage, raising curiosity about the game's ongoing support.

In an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on the Assassin’s Creed subreddit, Stephane Boudon, the creative director for Ubisoft Bordeaux’s upcoming project, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, addressed fans’ queries regarding post-launch updates and downloadable content (DLC).

When asked if players would have the opportunity to replay specific missions or quests after the game’s release, Boudon responded, “For now, Mirage has no plan for DLC or extensive post-launch.”

The Focus on Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which was announced during Ubisoft Forward last year, centers around the journey of Basim, a street thief who evolves into a full-fledged assassin in ninth-century Baghdad. Ubisoft has emphasized that Mirage will provide an opportunity for players to explore the rich history of Baghdad, albeit in a smaller map compared to its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Notably, Ubisoft also partnered with OWO to develop a haptic feedback gaming suit, enabling players to physically experience Basim’s actions as he engages in combat and parkour throughout the city.

The Uncertain Path of Post-Launch Content

While Ubisoft Bordeaux’s current stance indicates no definitive plans for DLC or extensive post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, fans of the franchise need not despair. Ubisoft has expressed its commitment to the Assassin’s Creed series by allocating additional resources to its development.

Alongside Mirage, Ubisoft is actively working on multiple other games set in the Assassin’s Creed universe. This includes a forthcoming mobile game, which the company recently announced it would conduct a closed beta test for in early next month, as well as Nexus VR, the franchise’s inaugural virtual reality title.

Anticipating Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Beyond

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is slated to launch on October 12 for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox platforms. While the absence of concrete plans for DLC might raise questions about the game’s long-term support, Ubisoft’s focus on the initial release suggests a dedication to delivering a compelling and polished experience for players.

As fans eagerly await the launch of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, they can also look forward to further announcements and developments within the Assassin’s Creed franchise, promising a rich and diverse future for the series.
