Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for season three of Shrinking, confirming a Jan. 28, 2026 global premiere and spotlighting two headline additions: Michael J. Fox and Cobie Smulders. Apple said the new season runs 11 episodes, opens with a one-hour debut, then drops weekly on Wednesdays through April 8.
The trailer frames the season around forward motion that still hurts. Jimmy (Jason Segel) faces the mess he’s made in his personal life and tries to steady his relationships as Alice prepares for a major life change. Smulders’ Sofi sits close to the center of that push, with the footage teasing a cautious romantic beat for Jimmy that keeps getting interrupted by friends who can’t resist turning his nerves into sport.
Fox’s arrival lands in a quieter, sharper scene. He appears opposite Harrison Ford’s Dr. Paul Rhoades in a medical waiting room, and the exchange plays like two men recognizing the same diagnosis without needing it spelled out. The moment matters because Paul’s Parkinson’s storyline has been a key thread, and Fox has lived with the disease for decades. Fox told People he contacted co-creator Bill Lawrence after watching the show: “You did a show about Parkinson’s, and you didn’t call me?” He added that Ford was “so real, so giving, so lovely” during filming.
Ford has also spoken publicly about what Fox brings to the set, calling his presence “essential” to portraying Parkinson’s truthfully. Fox stepping back into live-action acting carries its own weight; Entertainment Weekly reported that he retired from acting in 2020 and later said he would consider returning for work that fits his circumstances. Apple’s season three announcement lists Jeff Daniels among the new additions, with Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick and Smulders returning as guest stars.
