Netflix Charts: Tyler Perry’s “Joe’s College Road Trip” Opens at No. 1

The Madea-universe spinoff topped the film list, while the 2020 Epstein docuseries climbed amid renewed attention on newly released federal records.

Netflix’s weekly viewing charts for Feb. 9–15 were led by Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Road Trip, which opened at No. 1 on the service’s English-language film list with 12.5 million views and 23.1 million hours watched.

The movie spins out of the Madea franchise by centering Joe, the foul-mouthed relative played by Tyler Perry, on a cross-country drive meant to teach his grandson B.J. life lessons while touring colleges. Netflix said Perry wrote, directed, produced and stars in the film, continuing a recent run of projects made with the streamer.

The bigger surprise landed on the TV side. Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich returned to Netflix’s English-language TV ranking at No. 3 with 8.4 million views and 31.6 million hours watched, a sharp resurgence for a limited series released in 2020. The spike follows renewed public attention around newly released federal records: the United States Department of Justice said Jan. 30 it published 3.5 million pages in response to the Epstein Files Transparency Act, with additional disclosures expected on a rolling basis.

At the top of Netflix’s English TV list, The Lincoln Lawyer ranked No. 1 for the week with 9.6 million views (80.8 million hours watched), narrowly ahead of Bridgerton at No. 2 with 9.4 million views (41.2 million hours).

Netflix reports “views” as total hours watched divided by a title’s runtime, a method the company says allows comparisons across formats and lengths.
