Disney+ is expanding its popular series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” cast with four new actors for its highly anticipated second season. Two prominent actors, Rosemarie DeWitt and Aleks Paunovic, will join the cast as guests, the streaming portal stated. Additionally, newcomers Beatrice Kitsos and Kevin Chacon will have regular roles.

This casting announcement comes as the series prepares to adapt Rick Riordan’s “The Sea of Monsters,” the second novel in his best-selling young adult fantasy series. The upcoming season will follow Percy Jackson, played by Walker Scobell, as he returns to Camp Half-Blood a year after the previous season’s events, only to discover that chaos has broken out in his world.

DeWitt will play C.C., a sophisticated New Age guru who meets Percy on his journey. Paunovic plays Polyphemus, the fabled cyclops who guards the Golden Fleece, a magical treasure essential to the season’s storyline. Kitsos will play Alison Simms, a new character created especially for the show. Simms is defined as a former Camp Half-Blood graduate who supports Luke and Kronos’ idea of a new world order. Chacon takes over as Chris Rodriguez, another son of Hermes, replacing Andrew Alvarez from the previous season.

These new actors join a talented cast that includes Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Daniel Diemer as Tyson, Percy’s Cyclops half-brother. Other major additions to the cast are Andra Day as Athena, Margaret Cho as Wasp, and Kristen Schaal as Tempest.

According to the official synopsis, the new season will turn Percy’s world upside down. His connection with Annabeth grows stronger while his devoted pal Grover goes missing. Meanwhile, Kronos’ forces invade Camp Half-Blood. Percy’s voyage will take him into the treacherous Sea of Monsters, where he will face his secret destiny as Poseidon’s son.

An experienced production staff, including Rick Riordan, Jon Steinberg, Dan Shotz, and Monica Owusu-Breen, oversees the series. 20th Television produced the show for Disney+.
