According to reports, both Apple TV+ and Sony are vying to secure the rights to Scorsese’s passion project, which would see DiCaprio take on the role of the iconic singer. Furthermore, Jennifer Lawrence is said to be attached to play Sinatra’s second wife, Ava Gardner.
This will mark the seventh time DiCaprio and Scorsese have worked together, following their acclaimed pairings in films like The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, and their most recent outing. The duo’s synergy and creative chemistry have made them one of the most formidable director-actor duos in modern cinema.
Interestingly, this Sinatra biopic is not a new endeavor for the pair. Scorsese had previously attempted to get the project off the ground over a decade ago, with DiCaprio attached to star. However, the film ultimately stalled due to the reluctance of Sinatra’s estate, particularly his daughter Tina, to grant approval for the project.

In fact, Variety reports that Scorsese is planning to shoot the Sinatra film back-to-back with another passion project, a film about the life of Jesus titled Life of Jesus, which is expected to feature Andrew Garfield and Miles Teller in lead roles.
For DiCaprio, the opportunity to portray the legendary Sinatra is likely to be a dream role. The actor has long been known for his meticulous approach to character work, and he’s reportedly already enlisted the services of a vocal coach to help him capture the singer’s iconic vocals.
