Man, the new Captain America trailer has got people talking! Marvel fans are buzzing about Giancarlo Esposito and the mystery role he’s playing in the upcoming movie. Esposito is an amazing actor—you’ve definitely seen him play bad guys real well before. Now he’s joining the Marvel Universe, and no one knows who he’s playing yet.

People have some ideas though. One is that he could be playing G.W. Bridge. Bridge first showed up in comics way back in the 90s. He’s a cool character—a former spy agent who now works as a mercenary. He’s worked with folks like Cable, Punisher, and even the Contessa lady from the movies. Having Esposito play Bridge would be pretty awesome since he connects to other heroes and villains we’ve seen.

Another idea is that Esposito might play Paladin. Now Paladin is a lesser known character who popped up in Daredevil comics in the 1970s. He’s a private investigator with some special strengths and fighting skills. Playing Paladin maybe wouldn’t be as big a role as some fans hoped for Esposito, but it could lead to him showing up in other Marvel shows down the line, like the new Daredevil or Thunderbolts movie.

Both these theories make sense since the trailer shows Esposito’s character using lots of weapons and getting into intense action. So he’s probably a baddie or antihero that Captain America will have to deal with. The movie is supposed to be about how the world is changing and new challenges for the new Cap.

People were also wondering if Esposito could play bigger villains like Doctor Doom or Professor X, but it seems like his guy will be important to the storyline without being as powerful as cosmic characters.

Captain America: Brave New World comes out next Valentine’s Day and stars Anthony Mackie continuing his role as Sam Wilson aka Captain America. It also brings back Tim Blake Nelson as the Leader. With Esposito in it, this is sure to be one highlight of the movie—no matter who he ends up playing!
