If there’s one series that defined the childhoods of 90s teens, it’s undoubtedly Malcolm in the Middle. The show, starring the talented Frankie Muniz and the incomparable Bryan Cranston as the patriarch of a hilariously dysfunctional family, was one of the most beloved television premieres of the early 2000s.
And as such, it’s no surprise that there have been rumblings of a reunion, whether in the form of a television special or a feature film.
Well, according to Cranston himself in an interview with E! News, the wheels are already in motion for a Malcolm reunion movie. “There have been talks about the possibility of doing a Malcolm reunion movie,” he revealed.
Just imagining the antics of Malcolm, Reese, Dewey, and the rest of the family back on the big screen is enough to send fans into a frenzy.
The show was a masterclass in comedy and heart, and the thought of revisiting these beloved characters is enough to bring back fond memories of a simpler time.
It’s clear that the show left a lasting impact on audiences, and a reunion movie would be the perfect way to honor that legacy.
“Being part of that show felt like being part of a big family, so of course, I would be excited to come back if there was a compelling idea behind it. Imagine catching up with the family 20 years later, I think that would be great. Time has flown by, but it would be wonderful to reunite with everyone,” said the actor with a hint of nostalgia.
“Malcolm in the Middle” was a comedic portrayal of the chaotic and wild world of a family that was far from perfect. From 2000 to 2006, viewers tuned in to watch the antics of the hapless Malcolm and his eccentric family, played by an ensemble cast of talented actors.
Among them was Bryan Cranston, who had already made a name for himself in the United States, but it wasn’t until two years after the show’s end that he truly became an international sensation with his breakout role in the hit series “Breaking Bad.”
But Cranston isn’t the only one who would jump at the chance to reprise his role in the beloved show. In an October 2022 interview, Frankie Muniz, the actor who portrayed the titular Malcolm, expressed his unwavering desire to return to the role with 100% certainty.
He even revealed that he had spoken with Cranston, who played his father, and that the veteran actor was equally eager to return to the show.
“When I was making Malcolm I was a kid. We did 151 episodes. I never watched them, but now that I’ve watched the whole series with my wife I’ve realized, ‘Wow, that’s amazing what we were doing.’ Now I can disassociate myself from the person I was. He stars in it and being a fan. I would love to know where the family is now ,” Muniz acknowledged.
