Even after all these years, Fallout New Vegas remains a beloved entry in the Bethesda series. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, it captured the hearts of players with its humor and gameplay improvements over Fallout 3. Now, with both companies falling under the Microsoft umbrella, fans continue to hold out hope for a new Fallout installment from Obsidian.
However, as the studio is occupied with its own projects, a dedicated group of fans has taken up the task of breathing new life into the iconic game. Enter Fallout 4 New Vegas, a remarkable mod that recreates the entire Obsidian masterpiece using the Fallout 4 engine.
Slow but Promising Progress
Fallout 4 New Vegas is a labor of love, and the development of this mod has been progressing steadily. Recently, after nearly two years without any updates, the team shared an exciting glimpse of their progress.
Their latest focus has been on the Reload group of weapons, a notable addition in Fallout New Vegas that fans adored. And as expected, these energy weapons will be faithfully included in the remake. Take a look at how impressive they appear in the upgraded graphics:
The leap in quality from the original game is truly remarkable. While it had been a while since we last saw images or videos of this ambitious remake, the development team regularly shares updates on Twitter and Discord. Despite their dedication, an estimated release date for the mod remains unknown, leaving eager fans eagerly awaiting its completion.
Challenges for Future Collaborations
A collaboration between Bethesda and Obsidian for a new Fallout installment seems unlikely in the near future. Bethesda is currently focused on finalizing Starfield for its upcoming release this summer, followed by The Elder Scrolls VI.
As for Obsidian, they are busy working on Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2. Given these commitments, it’s uncertain when we will witness a new official installment of Fallout.
