In a thrilling development for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, the service has unexpectedly enhanced its game library with the addition of both “Remnant 2” and its well-received predecessor, “Remnant: From the Ashes”.
This surprising update brings an early holiday treat to gamers, offering a blend of intense shooter gameplay mixed with the challenging elements reminiscent of the Souls series.
Unexpected Gaming Delight: Remnant Series Joins Xbox Game Pass
For the uninitiated, “Remnant: From the Ashes” is not a stranger to the Game Pass roster, having been featured previously. However, the inclusion of “Remnant 2”, fresh from its July release, marks its debut on the subscription service.
This is a significant milestone given the game’s success, boasting over two million sales. The lack of a formal announcement for this addition makes it all the more intriguing, deviating from the usual protocol of publicizing upcoming titles.
The Remnant series stands out for its cooperative gameplay, a feature that particularly shines in these titles. This aspect is further amplified by their availability on Game Pass, potentially drawing in a wider audience of cooperative play enthusiasts.
Players can engage with these games across various platforms, including PC, Xbox consoles, and Xcloud, ensuring accessibility for a broad range of subscribers. However, a notable limitation exists in the form of absent cross-play functionality for “Remnant 2”. This means players must be on the same platform to enjoy the cooperative experience and cannot carry over progress from other platforms.
Despite this setback, there’s a silver lining. The developers at Gunfire Games are actively working towards introducing cross-play, a move that would significantly enhance the multiplayer experience. However, it remains uncertain whether this feature will be implemented while the game is still available on Game Pass.
A Co-op Shooter Saga on Game Pass
The arrival of these titles on Xbox Game Pass reflects Microsoft’s commitment to offering diverse and engaging content to its subscribers. It’s a testament to the evolving nature of gaming services, where surprises like these can significantly impact the gaming community.
The Remnant series, known for its challenging gameplay and cooperative focus, offers a unique experience that blends the intensity of shooter games with the strategic depth of Souls-like mechanics.
