For RPG enthusiasts still reveling in the glory of Baldur’s Gate 3, Steam is offering a tantalizing opportunity this weekend. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, a game deeply rooted in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, is temporarily free to play.

Created by Owlcat Games, known for their recent release Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader, this title offers a narrative-rich journey based on the Pathfinder rule set, a renowned spinoff from D&D.

A Deep Dive into the Pathfinder Universe

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is an exploration into a detailed fantasy world. Built upon a modified version of the D&D 3.5 rule set, it provides a mechanics-rich experience. The game features 25 Pathfinder classes and 12 races, allowing players to craft a diverse team for their adventures.

This free-play opportunity is the perfect chance for RPG fans to immerse themselves in one of the most expansive RPGs of its type. The game sets players on a quest to the Worldwound, a rift leading to the Abyss, tasking them with halting the terror that seeps from this tear in the world.

Similar to Baldur’s Gate 3, players will be accompanied by a group of unique companions, each with their own stories and personalities. Choices made in the game will affect these relationships, impacting who will fight alongside the player.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous elevates combat with its intricate systems and mechanics. It caters to both newcomers and seasoned players of the Pathfinder rule set by including an in-game guide and customizable difficulty settings. Whether you’re in it for the gripping narrative or the challenging gameplay, the game adapts to your preferences.

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous

A Tough Act to Follow

While Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 has set high standards in the RPG genre, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous holds its own, as reflected in its ‘very positive’ Steam rating of 83% from almost 24,000 reviews. This free weekend and subsequent Steam sale present a perfect opportunity for RPG fans to explore this critically acclaimed game.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is not only free to play on Steam until Monday, December 18, but also available for purchase at a significant discount of 75% off until Thursday, December 21. This means players can own the game for just $9.99 / £8.59. Additionally, various DLCs for the game are also on sale, providing an even more enriched gaming experience.
