Shudder, a streaming service known for horror movies and shows, has announced their lineup of spooky programming for Halloween season 2024. The company wants viewers at home to feel scared by providing many original scary films, series premieres, and special events from October to November.
Starting in September, Shudder began premiering new shows and movies. This included “In a Violent Nature,” a slasher film about an undead killer seeking revenge, available starting September 13th. Coming up in October is season six of “The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula,” a competition series featuring drag performers attempting terrifying challenges. Called “Season 666,” it is one of Shudder’s most ambitious shows yet with famous guest judges.
Another highlight is “V/H/S/Beyond” on October 1st. This found footage anthology has six new frightening “tapes” or short films from different directors, including one from Mike Flanagan, known for scary movies. Shudder will also unveil original horrors like “Oddity” about supernatural revenge on September 27th. “Daddy’s Head” on October 11th tells a psychological story exploring grief.
Subscribers have more to look forward to after Halloween. “The Creep Tapes” in November follows a serial killer who films his videographers. Shudder plans to enhance the scary experience with returning extras. “Ghoul Log” provides a relaxing ambient video with a pumpkin. Weekly double feature nights pair new releases with similar classics.
Craig Engler, Shudder’s general manager, said “Our 2024 Season of Screams represents the pinnacle of what Shudder offers.” Industry analysts believe the filled schedule helps Shudder compete against other streaming services by catering fully to horror fans. A basic Shudder subscription costs $6.99 per month or $8.99 as part of a bundle with AMC+.
With these petrifying picks throughout fall 2024, Shudder aims to keep viewers entertained and frightened from their couches during Halloween season.
