Tyler Posey says he has written a sequel to Teen Wolf: The Movie and is now pushing to get the franchise back into production, either as a second film or a new series. In a recent interview, the actor said the script is “ready to go,” adding that he plans to spearhead the next phase and has already spoken with potential collaborators. He noted that the 2023 feature was originally discussed as part of a three-picture plan, but only one installment materialized.
Posey, who led the MTV series from 2011 to 2017 and returned for the Paramount+ film, framed his draft as an attempt to honor long-time viewers while opening the door for new stories. He suggested the project could evolve into television if that route proves more viable than a standalone movie. He also said some cast members are interested in returning, though he stopped short of naming them, and he acknowledged that any next step would require buy-in from rights holders.
No distributor or studio has announced a greenlight. The 2023 film, written by franchise creator Jeff Davis and directed by Russell Mulcahy, reunited much of the original ensemble and arrived as Paramount+ was investing in legacy titles to bolster engagement. Posey has since indicated he wants a tone that skews closer to the audience that grew up with the show, an idea he has voiced at fan events and in recent press.
Industry chatter around the character’s future has persisted through reunions and convention appearances as cast and crew weigh schedules and the economics of continuing an established brand. Posey’s comments reflect a push led by talent rather than a top-down revival, with the actor signaling he is ready to revise the script if needed to match format or platform. Until an official decision arrives, the franchise sits at an inflection point, with a finished draft in hand and multiple paths under discussion.
