HBO has set the first cast additions for The White Lotus Season 4, tapping AJ Michalka and Alexander Ludwig to join Mike White’s next chapter of the resort satire. The new season shifts the franchise to France and, following the show’s template, tracks a fresh mix of hotel guests and staff across a single week.
Both actors acknowledged the news on social media Friday. Michalka posted “Checking in!” and addressed White by name, while Ludwig wrote that he felt “Beyond honored,” then thanked White for his trust and called the material “unbelievable.” The casting gives Season 4 two performers with long resumes in mainstream TV and studio features, a lane the series has used to seed its ensemble with recognizable faces before announcing bigger marquee names.
The production plan points to a 2026 start. HBO has scoped locations in Paris and the French Riviera, and network chief Casey Bloys has said White is beginning to write and start casting. White remains set to serve as creator, writer, and director, and he will executive produce alongside David Bernad and Mark Kamine. With filming still ahead, HBO has not set a premiere date or released character details for Michalka or Ludwig.
White has offered one creative hint about the next setting, saying he wants to move away from the “crashing waves against rocks” visual language, then added, “there’s always room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.” Casting chatter has already started: reports have linked Helena Bonham Carter to early talks, though HBO has not confirmed any deal. Bernad has also teased that the season will be “relevant,” and said he expects viewers to be happy with where White takes the story next.
