A new Super Bowl ad introduced fresh footage from Disclosure Day, with Steven Spielberg returning to big-screen science fiction and Emily Blunt positioned as the story’s on-air anchor point. The film is set to open in U.S. theaters on June 12, 2026, including IMAX engagements, after a release-date shift announced earlier in the campaign.
The Super Bowl spot keeps plot specifics tight while leaning on a clear hook: Blunt plays a Kansas City TV meteorologist who encounters an unexplained phenomenon during a live broadcast, pulling millions into the moment. The studio’s official materials continue to sell the project as an “event” release, with marketing that teases contact and its fallout without spelling out the mechanics on screen.
Universal has confirmed a deep ensemble around Blunt, including Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo and Wyatt Russell. The screenplay comes from David Koepp, reuniting Spielberg with a long-time collaborator, and local reporting tied the production to shoots in New York’s Hudson Valley, including a diner location in Haines Falls.
Behind the camera, Spielberg again turns to familiar craft partners. John Williams signed on to score the film, described as his 30th feature collaboration with Spielberg, a pairing that often signals a studio-scale rollout aimed at wide audiences. And while the campaign plays coy, Koepp has framed the finished film in emotional terms, telling Deadline after production wrapped that it was “a very emotional experience.”
