Kelly Clarkson said she will end The Kelly Clarkson Show after its current seventh season, calling the choice “an easy decision as a mama” as she shifts her schedule around her two children. Clarkson made the comments Feb. 20 on Today, describing a period of heavy family responsibility and saying the daily grind of syndicated television left “too much on the plate.”
The Daytime Emmy-winning talker will keep producing new episodes through fall 2026, according to reporting on the show’s rollout plan, with occasional guest hosts set to fill in during planned absences. Clarkson has framed the change as a step back from a fixed weekday routine rather than a full retreat from entertainment work.
Clarkson tied the timing to her home life. She shares daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington “Remy,” 9, with late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who died in August 2025 after a three-year battle with melanoma. Clarkson said the “dynamic changed” for her family, and she wants to be physically present for the small, repetitive moments that structure a child’s day.
The decision lands amid churn in daytime syndication, where stations and distributors have pushed for cheaper formats and more dependable ad performance. Clarkson’s show built its brand on musical moments, celebrity interviews, and audience-friendly games, and it remained a strong player for NBCUniversal in a competitive field. Still, hosting five days a week can be punishing even for established stars, and Clarkson has recently juggled television with music commitments, including a planned return to live performances.
For viewers, the timeline is now clear: Season 7 continues through fall 2026, then the series wraps. Clarkson has thanked her staff and fans publicly and stressed that the move reflects a family-first decision rather than any dispute with the show’s team or distributor.
