Amazon Prime Video is making a bold statement during the International feature Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, demonstrating its expanding commitment to Indian entertainment with high-profile feature and series premieres.
The festival will focus on “The Mehta Boys,” a highly intimate film directed by legendary actor Boman Irani. The film, which previously won best feature picture at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, delves into the complex interactions between a father and son. Its emotional depth is expected to resonate with both reviewers and audiences.
Adding to the excitement, Prime Video will premiere “The Rana Daggubati Show,” an eight-episode unscripted series created and hosted by South Indian celebrity Rana Daggubati. The concert, which begins streaming on November 23, boasts an amazing lineup of guests, including actors Dulquer Salmaan and Naga Chaitanya Akkineni and acclaimed filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli.
The streaming platform’s festival involvement extends beyond screenings. Shilangi Mukherji, Director and Head of SVOD at Prime Video India, will speak at the event. A panel discussion titled “Greenlighting Your Project: Strategies for Film & Series Creators” will feature industry figures such as Viacom18 CEO Jyoti Deshpande and filmmaker Nikhil Advani.
The festival will end with a musical performance by “Bandish Bandits” Season 2 musicians at the closing ceremony on November 28. This musical event injects a dynamic cultural aspect into Prime Video’s festival presentation.
These broad offers reflect Prime Video’s strategic investment in the Indian entertainment business, exhibiting content diversity and significant industry interaction.
