Succession actor and Red Scare podcaster Dasha Nekrasova has been dropped by Hollywood talent agency Gersh and removed from the upcoming thriller Iconoclast after backlash to a lengthy interview with far-right figure Nick Fuentes. A spokesperson confirmed that the agency no longer represents her, while producers on Iconoclast, the directorial debut of The Night Agent star Gabriel Basso, have recast her role as the controversy gathered pace online.
The interview at the center of the dispute was released last month as a more than two-and-a-half-hour episode of Red Scare, the cultural commentary podcast Nekrasova co-hosts with Anna Khachiyan. Titled “Fuentanyl OD – Nick Fuentes x Red Scare,” the conversation was promoted on YouTube as a personal look at Fuentes’ life and ambitions, with a logline highlighting topics ranging from his political aspirations and online following to conspiracy-tinged discussions of Jewish influence, immigration and American demographics. Clips focusing on exchanges about “international Jewry” and stereotyped depictions of ethnic and religious minorities have circulated widely, pushing the episode and reposts into the hundreds of thousands of views.
Fuentes, a prominent figure in the “Groyper” movement, has been described by researchers and watchdog groups as a white nationalist and Holocaust denier whose following is built on antisemitic, racist and misogynistic rhetoric. He has been banned from multiple platforms over hate speech, yet recently re-entered mainstream conversation through high-profile interviews and appearances that have divided conservative media figures and drawn warnings from extremism experts about normalizing his message.
Nekrasova’s decision to host him has reignited long-running debate about Red Scare’s posture toward the political right. Coverage and commentary have pointed to previous episodes featuring guests such as Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones, arguing that booking Fuentes crosses a different line because of his explicit association with white nationalist organizing. Supporters of Nekrasova on social media, meanwhile, have framed Gersh’s move as an overreaction and raised concerns about professional punishment for controversial speech, even as others in the industry welcomed the agency’s response.
Born in Minsk and known for roles in HBO’s Succession and A24’s Materialists, Nekrasova has built a dual career as an indie filmmaker and podcast provocateur. Red Scare, launched in 2018, first attracted attention through its association with the “dirtbag left” and has more recently been linked to segments of the new right, with Nekrasova’s own political commentary tracking that shift. As of Friday, she had not issued a detailed public statement on Gersh’s decision or her removal from Iconoclast beyond the remarks contained in the Fuentes episode.
