Adam Brody says his wife, Leighton Meester, will bring a “wild” energy to the second season of Netflix’s relationship comedy Nobody Wants This, offering an early tease of her guest turn as Abby, a onetime middle-school rival of Kristen Bell’s character who has become a social-media influencer. Meester joins a fall rollout that the streamer has set for October 23, with production on the new season already wrapped.
Season 2 continues the story of Joanne and Noah, an agnostic podcaster and a Los Angeles rabbi navigating family pressures and religious differences after a late-season reconciliation. Alongside returning leads Bell and Brody, the show adds Miles Fowler as Lenny, plus recurring turns from Alex Karpovsky and Arian Moayed. New leadership is in place behind the scenes, with Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan joining as showrunners.
Brody’s preview arrives after a strong awards run for the series’ first season. He won best actor in a comedy series at the Critics Choice Awards in February, a moment that also drew attention to the couple’s onstage and offstage partnership as anticipation built for Meester’s appearance.
Official season materials emphasize that Meester’s Abby complicates Joanne’s world rather than serving as a simple foil, while the expanded ensemble opens new threads for supporting characters. The streamer’s preview also frames the new episodes as picking up soon after the season 1 finale, keeping focus on what sacrifices the central couple is willing to make without rushing the relationship’s hardest questions.
